This Privacy Policy explains how the Chess Tutor app ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. Chess Tutor is developed by Robin Hare. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the app and show ads, and we never sell your personal information.

Information we collect

The app itself does not ask you to create an account or provide your name, email, or contact details. However, to show advertising and run the app, the following information may be collected automatically:

• Advertising & device identifiers — including Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA, only if you permit tracking) and device identifiers used to serve and measure ads.
• Approximate location — a coarse, non-precise location derived from your IP address, used to serve relevant ads.
• Usage & diagnostic data — such as ad interactions, crashes, and general app performance information.
• Game progress — your puzzle, mini-game, and tutoring progress and settings, which are stored only on your device and are not sent to us.

How we use information

• To display and measure advertising (including, with your consent, personalised ads).
• To process the optional "Remove Ads" in-app purchase and its restoration.
• To diagnose crashes and improve the app's stability and features.

Advertising & third parties

Chess Tutor uses Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob may collect and process data as described in Google's policies. Please review:

In-app purchases are processed by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store your payment details.

App Tracking Transparency

On first launch, the app asks — through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt — whether you allow tracking across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised. You can change this choice any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.

Your choices in the European Economic Area, UK & Switzerland

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, data protection law (including the GDPR) applies. Where we rely on consent — for example to show personalised ads — the app presents a consent message on first use, and you can grant or withdraw consent there. Our legal bases are your consent (for personalised advertising) and our legitimate interests (to run, secure, and improve the app and to show non-personalised ads).

You have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

Children

Chess Tutor is suitable for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.

Data retention

Your game progress stays on your device until you delete the app or reset it in-app. Data collected by advertising partners is retained according to their own policies, linked above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
